Come and enjoy your vacation in the tropics! Discover the Dominican and Haitian culture and give a hand to help. The schedule is flexible. Volunteer as much or as little as you want! Accompany the children in their learning process. No qualification needed. Experience a new vocation if you are not a teacher. All skills can be taught at different levels. Have fun playing with the happy students!

  • Where do we live?
    • We live in the village of Muñoz (In Puerto Plata, North Shore) of the Dominican Republic. Some people come for 2 weeks, months, or for years... all depends on your availability!
  • Who are your students?
    • Your students will be adults, teenagers or young children who speak Spanish and Creole and some French. All are so happy and willing to learn and spend time with you!
  • «How many hours per week?
    • 15-20 hours a week - more or less! We are flexible!  Make your own schedule with the school directors.
  • What are your Duties?
    • You can decide what classes will be taught and to whom. Our people love to learn all sorts of things! We have had yoga, computer, French, and English classes. Teach whatever you know. You can decide the limitations or regulations for attendance. Set goals and evaluate progress of courses and students. Publicize classes to the community. Work with local hotels and tourist attractions to help find employment for advanced students.

Also, you can teach advanced students to help out beginners and encourage a proactive, mutually beneficial learning environment. Ideally, advanced students could also become teachers, not just of English, but using their English skills to teach visitors Spanish, Creole and French.

Volunteers must be motivated and initiate their own volunteer program, as there is limited structure for our project. But we have plenty of ideas and know the needs of the community. English language is an important skill for our people to have, for it will allow adults to find work in tourism, the largest industry in the country.
  • What are our requirements?
    • You need to speak French or English fluently. Experience in teaching ESL or EFL is an asset. Conversational French or Spanish would be quite helpful. But if you don`t have these qualifications, come anyway! We can always find something for you to do.
